Product Launch Video for SaaS: One Recording, Every Channel

Klevo · · 4 min read

A product launch video for a SaaS has one job: show the new thing working, fast, in every place people will see the launch. You do not need an agency for that. Pick the single flow that makes the launch worth caring about and keep it to 5 to 12 steps. Caption each step so it works muted, then export it in the shape of each channel: 16:9 for the landing page and Product Hunt, 9:16 for stories and short video, 1:1 for feeds. With Klevo, you record that flow once by describing it to Claude or ChatGPT, and every format comes from the same saved script.

Why do launch videos eat the week before launch?

Because each channel wants its own cut. The landing page wants a wide clip, X and LinkedIn want something square, stories want vertical, and the Product Hunt gallery wants a clean 16:9. If every version is a separate screen recording, a solo founder spends launch week doing takes instead of answering comments.

Then the launch happens, the first feedback lands, you fix the onboarding, and every one of those clips now shows the old screen.

What should the launch video show?

  • The new thing, not the whole product. A launch is a reason to look now. Show that reason.
  • The before-to-after in one flow. Start where the user starts, end on the result.
  • 5 to 12 steps. Long enough to be real, short enough to finish (how long should a demo video be).
  • A caption per step, written for someone scrolling with the sound off (captions that explain a demo).
  • A closing card with the call to action and the link.

For Product Hunt specifically, see Product Hunt demo video.

Which version goes where?

Channel Format Frame Tip
Landing page hero 16:9 Browser Hide the intro so it loops cleanly (Pro)
Product Hunt gallery 16:9 Browser Lead with the result in the first steps
X and LinkedIn feed 1:1 or 4:5 Browser Bigger captions read better small
Stories, Reels, Shorts 9:16 Phone Use the mobile device if your app is responsive
Launch email 16:9 Browser Link a poster image to the video
Changelog entry 16:9 Browser or none 3 to 6 steps, only the new feature

Demo video formats and device frames by channel goes deeper on each.

How do you make it with Klevo?

  1. Connect Klevo to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code (setup guide).
  2. Describe the launch flow: “On https://app.myapp.com, open the new Reports tab, pick Last 30 days and export a PDF. 16:9, browser frame, zoom on Export.”
  3. The AI records the session. It clears cookie banners and tours first, takes one step at a time and checks a screenshot after each.
  4. Klevo renders the MP4 with a smooth cursor, zooms, your captions and an outro card with your call to action.
  5. Ask for the other channels. “Now 9:16 on a phone frame, and 1:1.” No new recording; the saved script renders again.

On Pro, set your font, background and brand color so every version looks like you, and add AI narration from voice credits if a channel wants sound.

What happens after launch day?

You will change the UI within days. When you do, ask for the same videos again and every format updates from the script. If a step broke because a button moved, the render fails on that step with a screenshot, which tells you exactly what to fix. Small teams use this to ship a demo for every changelog entry after the launch, too.

What does it cost?

Plan Price What you get
Free $0 3 videos a month, 720p, up to 20 steps, small watermark, 10 voice credits to start
Pro $19 a month or $149 a year 1080p without the watermark, device frames, any Google Font, your brand, caption styles, up to 120 steps
Ultra $49 a month or $399 a year Everything in Pro, up to 240 steps, more voice credits

A launch usually needs Pro for 1080p without the watermark. Your first Pro or Ultra subscription is free for 14 days, then $19 or $49 a month; cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. See the pricing section.

What is the next step?

Write down the one flow your launch is about. Create a free account, connect Klevo, and ask for that flow in 16:9. Once it looks right, ask for 9:16 and 1:1, and your launch kit is done. For the landing page side, read landing page video.

FAQ

Should the launch video have a voice-over?

For feeds and the hero, captions are usually enough. For a longer tour on YouTube or in an email, add AI narration from voice credits.

Can I show a feature that is not live yet?

Yes, if it runs on a staging URL the browser can reach. Localhost does not work.

Does it work for an app with a login?

Yes. Save a test account as a secret: record a demo of an app behind a login.

Your app, demoed by AI.
