Product Demo Script: a Template for SaaS Demo Videos
A product demo script is the list of what happens on screen, in order, with the words the viewer reads or hears at each step. For a SaaS demo video it needs five parts: the one result the demo proves, the screen it starts on, the steps (one action each), a short caption per step, and a closing card with the next action. Write it as steps, not as a speech, and it does two jobs: it keeps the recording tight, and it can be replayed. Why do demo videos go wrong without a script?
Without one, the demo is whatever happened during the take. The cursor wanders while you think, a settings page sneaks in because you passed it, and the caption you meant to add never gets written. The video grows to four minutes and the one moment that sells is in the middle.

What does a filled demo script template look like?
Here is a SaaS demo script for an invoicing app, written the way you would paste it into Claude or ChatGPT:
Goal: a client gets an invoice in under ten steps.
Start: https://staging.myapp.com/invoices, logged in with the DEMO_LOGIN secret. Desktop, 16:9, browser frame.
Setup: decline the cookie banner.

The captions follow the rules in captions that explain a demo: short, specific, about the reason, not the click. The data is fake but believable (demo videos without real customer data).
How does the script become a video?
